Keys 7KS Colleges provide an alternative education work programme for those students who are at risk of exclusion due to their challenging behaviour.
The values and aims of the College are centred around the promotion of inclusion through work and activity related learning, supported by an educational, vocational and enterprise network.
Our aim is to provide a non-formal learning environment leading to formal qualifications.
The philosophy of a Keys 7KS College reflects the view that these young people are often confused and angry, with themselves and their world. Their behaviours are not viewed as having to do with manipulation and power but rather as a form of self protection.
Many of the young people who attend the College have been diagnosed with conditions such as AD HD, ODD and Dyslexia/Dyspraxia. As a result of conditions such as these and other social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, they have experienced significant difficulties in mainstream schools. They have begun to associate school with
feelings of fear, frustration and failure. Some have already given up learning.
At Keys 7KS , we try to break that cycle. To help them achieve qualifications and skills and to enable them to start believing in themselves and their future.
Our facilities include specialist teaching facilities such as an IT suite, large conference room, food technology areas, smaller meeting rooms, nurture rooms.
Our Enterprise centre includes vocational areas of mechanical, horticulture and woodwork. Onsite state of the art gym and dance studios ensure there are options for everyone.
Each year we celebrate our student’s achievements throughout the year with events such as Inter – school football, annual reward trips, and enrichment trips across the school.
At Keys 7KS we enable all young people to achieve qualifications, to feel a sense of achievement when gaining those qualifications and celebrating diversity in these achievements.
