Active8
Some young people need placing immediately following placement breakdown or other emergency. For children who are especially vulnerable or who cannot be placed with other children Active8 offers the ideal solution.Active8 as the name suggests is an activity based individual residential service available in an emergency, respite or planned basis for children aged 10-17. Using a 2:1 staff/child ratio Active8 provides a structured programme of dynamic outdoor based activities designed to engage and challenge young people placed. The young person can be transported from any part of the UK to our registered home, where they will be assessed and a plan formed that is focused around their individual needs. Following this they will start on a programme that will involve activities such as abseiling, canoeing, mountain biking, hill walking, rock climbing, skating and many more.
Through participation and improved. skills young people experience achievement and increased self esteem providing confidence to take more control of their lives and plan more effectively for future placement.
Keys latest addition to their Active8. portfolio is a new emergency care provision in Norfolk that is based around water activities using the nearby Norfolk broads. All staff are fully trained in these outdoor activities and young people can be looked after individually or as part of a group. Education and therapy can also be accessed on site if required. This new service is called Aqua 8.On discharge, each child is presented with a photograph album that will help them remember their experience and achievements during their stay at Active8
