It is our belief that every young person we look after who presents with Mental Health difficulties has the potential for recovery and positive life chances irrespective of the circumstances which necessitated their placement.
We are ambitious and have high aspirations for the young people in our care and seek to maximise each young person’s potential for social and educational growth and development by working in close and meaningful partnership with education, health, social workers and families to provide a genuinely nurturing and therapeutic environment.
Our aim is to promote recovery and self-esteem through recognition, achievement and praise. We may also assist each young person to develop the coping strategies and skills required to manage their mental health difficulties as they arise, in an environment correctly balanced between care and control, liberty and containment, protection and managed risk. We will also help the young people we look after to understand and deal with the consequences of their own actions by offering regular individual 1-1 sessions where they can discuss their thoughts and feelings.
A structured timetable is used to establish daily routines, clear and achievable agreed goals and aims, to promote a sense of purpose and direction and channel energies into positive activity and outcomes. We promote a culture of learning, understanding and respect based upon strong care principles. We work constructively with young people to help them develop the skills and abilities to make appropriate decisions and understand how their actions can impact on themselves and others.
MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS, YOUNG PEOPLE MATTER
It is our genuine commitment to the children and young people we care for, which has helped to establish Keys Services. Our staff training programmes ensure staff have the tools and skills to manage risk and challenging behaviours, address the issues for those involved in gang cultures and those at risk of exploitation, help children and young people to have a voice and empower them to build the social skills and relationships they will need to be able to thrive and have a sense of their own value and self worth. We achieve all this by recognising that in order for children/young people to develop their full potential they need the opportunity to experience a diverse range of appropriate life experiences in a safe, nurturing environment that promotes and celebrates their individuality.
Our reputation for providing child-centred, high quality, bespoke packages of care for children/young people displaying a variety of needs and behaviours means we are the preferred provider for many placing authorities looking for the best service for their young people.
